What's Up Youth is a not-for-profit youth-led portal (www.wupy.org) created in 2008. Through its interactive, easy for navigation & user friendly portal (www.wupy.org) WupY displays and updates regularly an important amount of information helping youth to maximize their potentials, develop their communities, cross borders and create global alliances.
ICTs turned today's world into one big community. This openness allowed global partnerships to blossom and easier Youth mobility opportunities to spread. The WupY team of youth activists and thought leaders, acknowledged the importance of offering young people around the world a valuable, global guide of opportunities and valid information targeting today's young people.
Therefore, WUPY presents itself as a bridge between promising, active youth and the opportunities these youth may need to further their knowledge & capacities and fulfill their dreams.
We have also chosen precisely the Internet and the Web 2.0 technologies to be our mean of communication with the young activists, talents & entrepreneurs as nowadays youth mostly use new information and communication technologies to search for resources and establish contacts & networks worldwide.
The WupY dynamics can be summarized as following: collecting a maximum of useful and valid youth-oriented information on opportunities, events, active groups, funders, and resources, and displaying it through one free and accessible international portal.
Our first service is therefore, updating opportunities & calls regularly, presenting descriptions, deadlines, external links and downloadable forms of each event. Opportunities which may concern youth are as following: scholarships, fellowships, Internships, grants, funding, workshops, conferences, forums, competitions, prizes etc.
WupY also provides its visitors & subscribers with a detailed event agenda & a monthly e-newsletter.
Our second service is a rich database of involved youth groups (NGOs, Clubs, &Movements) to help youth in networking and learning from the best practices of other youth around the world.
Thirdly, and because youth dreams need to be supported and funded WUPY suggests a growing list of national, regional, and international funders interested and involved in community development & youth work.
Sometimes, youth may need more than funds to succeed. They need technical knowledge and practical skills to achieve their objectives, explore new horizons, or to build new capacities.
WupY thought about that, and offers a variety of resources for youth through its portal, by providing online downloadable tool-kits, manuals and diverse publications.
The WupY portal is also: a personalized account, up-to-date news, polls on youth issues and more!
The high demand among active youth on information & opportunities, the rare presence of specialized youth portals which update regularly massive flow of International information & the great amount of calls & opportunities wasted everyday through classical means of communication, inspired the young talented WupY team to canalize all resources, information & means through one common medium in one fixed.
Address, easy to navigate, easy to remember "What's Up Youth!".
Since 2008 WupY has been a leading website in the promotion of INTERNATIONAL youth events & has a record of visitors & subscribers from ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Our website is therefore credible & accredited mainly for:

Young TPOTY is divided into two age groups. If you are aged 15-18, this is the page for you! If you are younger than 15, please click on the link to Young TPOTY 14 Years & Under button in the menu on the left.
Travel is about the places you visit and the things you find when you get there. Show us two different views of your travels: The big picture and the small details.
For this age group you can choose one of two themes:
• Big World Small World - People
• Big World Small World - Environment
What subjects can you include? Your images can be from somewhere you’ve travelled, or maybe even somewhere in your home town. You can interpret the theme through people or the environment in a whole country, one single village or place, or anything in between - the choice is yours. But don't mix people and environment in the same portfolio. Your images can be busy or peaceful but make them creative and original.
How many images? 4 related images which explore your chosen theme through both close ups and wider views.
What are the judges looking for? Both detail and the bigger picture within the same portfolio, your view of either people or the environment, a link between your images, creativity, originality.
Am I eligible? This category is for all photographers aged 15 to 18 years.
How many times can I enter? You can enter this category twice; once with a People themed portfolio and once with an Environment themed portfolio.
Judges' Special Award. Young Photographers' Alliance award for the best emerging talent. This award will be given by the judges to the most interesting entry from a photographer, aged 25 years and under, in either the New Talent or Young Travel Photographer of the Year categories. You will be automatically entered for this award if you have entered this Young TPOTY category.

Team Collaboration
At the beginning of the school year, through the encouragement of the teacher of computer studies, a group was formed specially for this competition. At first we agreed on a topic, then we had meetings weekly. To start with, we collected sources, texts, pictures, all kinds of information about chocolate. When we had some idea of what we wanted to write about, we made an outline (a plan of the site's menu). Then the team was divided into two parts. There were some who worked on the content, read many books, visited museums, collected info and pictures of any kind and worked out a topic in connection with chocolate (Reni, Bianka, Balu and Misi).
The other half of the team worked on the computer and designed and programmed the website (Lali, David and the assistant, Ildiko).
At the weekly meetings, everybody showed the others what he/she did the last week and we collected new ideas, corrected mistakes and set the task for the next week. But indeed there was not a strict division between the two sub-groups, because everybody contributed some ideas. For example, Misi had the idea of the globe falling into two, the coach gave the idea of the bonbon box as a main menu and the bonbon buttons in the inside menu. Most of the design was made by Lali. He collected pictures, did the programming, and produced Reni's gallery. As he has a music-centered family, his father and sister helped with music for the intro video. In Reni's gallery we can hear him playing the piano. Misi collected recipes and illustrations. Balu worked out the topic Growing, Bianca had the topic of Producing, Reni had History. But I can say that all of them were very helpful and gave a hand to each other in scanning or typing.
David was not at the meetings in person, because he attends another school in the same institution. The assistant was in touch with him. He helped in programming, worked on flash files and also worked out the topic of health. There were others too who eagerly provided guidance, although they were not in the team. Many students took part in the experiment that we had at our school and filled out a questionnaire made by Ildiko, about their chocolate eating habits. We are all very thankful to the English teachers of our school, who reviewed our translation of the texts into English, and Shelly, who read the manuscripts. Getting nearer the deadline every one of us got more enthusiastic and we met more often. We still don't feel it is perfectly finished, but we hope we can share a drop of that sweetness we enjoyed during this project.
Team Diversity
Our team was not dull at all, it had a certain diversity.
First of all, in my opinion, it is a great challenge for boys and girls to work together at this age.
Secondly, there is David, who doesn't attend our school, so we couldn't meet him very often, except the last week. We contacted him through the assistant or e-mail.
Furthermore, nowadays here in Hungary we have a serious problem with minorities, but we can proudly say, that one of the key persons in our team was Lali, who belongs to them. We didn't have any fights or arguments with each other. Thank God.
